After an hour and a half journey from Ho Chi Minh City, we vacated the bus to board the boat that took us down the river. |

Jodie did well to spend so much time on these fragile boats without looking too concerned. Having to be lifted from the Solent by helicopter a few summers ago means she doesn't relax too well when on water. |

The place our guide took us to was in a tiny inlet off the main river and this meant transferring to a smaller boat. |

The little old lady rowers were very proficient at their job, which I guess comes with years of experience. Having said that, would you like to row a bunch of westerners up a hazardous river? |

This is the way to travel in the heat of Vietnam. This is proper air-conditioning. In the background, to the left of the boat in the distance, is the inlet that we had just left. Easy to understand how people can hit and run in this country during the war.
