GLORY DAYS - THE STEELERS GREATEST GAMES

Back to homepageLast year yielded a healthy harvest of books about the Steelers and Dale Grdnic’s book, “Glory Days,” is one of them.

Dale features the top 20 Steelers’ games and begins with the seventies, when they became one of the top franchises in the league, and covers the great games including the special 2005 Super Bowl run.

Readers are offered unique stories about the players and coaches who took part in many of the greatest and most euphoric victories in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ legendary history woven around the fans’ personal touches.

Among the games covered are Franco Harris’ “Immaculate Reception” that beat the Oakland Raiders in the playoffs, the four Super Bowl and AFC Championship Game victories in the glorious decade of the 1970’s.

Among other games reviewed are Bill Cowher’s first victory as the Steelers head coach in 1992 and Ben Roethlisberger’s first win as a starting quarterback in Miami after Hurricane Jeanne.

Dale commented on Wsradio.com (11/10/2007) that Ben, like Bradshaw, is a quarterback for the franchise and will win a few more Super Bowls. That insight became reality when Ben’s new contract was signed.

Dale Grdnic is a freelance writer who covers Pittsburgh sports. For the past 13 years he has covered the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Pitt Panthers as a beat writer for several newspapers in Pennsylvania. Grdnic resides in Conway, PA.
