KICKOFF AND OFFENSIVE FORMATIONS DEFENSE vs THE EAGLES & These pages are taken from the 1957 Pittsburgh Steelers vs the Baltimore Colts NFL Football Playbook. This is a copy of the coaching report personally documented by Football Hall of Fame coach, Wilbur Ewbank. "Weeb" Ewbank learnt his trade working with Paul Brown at Miami University, Ohio, and then from 1949 to 1953 with the Cleveland Browns. At the time of the report Ewbank was head coach for the Baltimore Colts. Made by Weeb and his coaching staff to hand out to the Baltimore players in preparation for their 1957 game against the Steelers. It was a study guide for legendary players such as Johnny Unitas, Raymond Berry and Lenny Moore. Ewbank coached the Colts to a victory over the New York Giants in the first ever sudden-death championship game in 1958. He pulled off the biggest upset in Super Bowl history when he guided the New York Jets past the Colts in 1968; he also won a second NFL title in 1959 with the Colts and in 20 seasons was 134-130-7. |
